Perfect for fall dinners, holiday meals, or just when you want a side that brings something extra to the table, these carrots are simple to make yet packed with flavor. The balance of salty, sweet, and savory makes them the perfect complement to any main course.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb baby carrots (or regular carrots, peeled and cut into sticks)
- 4 slices of bacon, chopped
- 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)
Directions:
- In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove bacon from the skillet and set aside, leaving the bacon fat in the pan.
- Add the butter to the skillet and let it melt. Stir in the garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Add the baby carrots to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5-7 minutes, or until the carrots are just tender and starting to caramelize.
- Drizzle the maple syrup over the carrots and stir to coat. Continue cooking for an additional 3-4 minutes, allowing the syrup to thicken and glaze the carrots.
- Stir the crispy bacon back into the skillet, mixing well.
- Remove from heat and garnish with freshly chopped parsley, if desired. Serve hot as a side dish.
