Nothing says comfort quite like a warm, creamy casserole, and this Swedish Meatball Noodle Bake hits every note just right. With tender, juicy meatballs nestled among creamy noodles, this dish is a delightful fusion of classic Swedish flavors and cozy pasta.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb ground pork
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 8 oz egg noodles
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, milk, egg, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg. Mix well and form into meatballs.
- In a large skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add meatballs and cook until browned on all sides. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining butter. Once melted, whisk in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Slowly add beef broth, whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Stir in heavy cream and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer, and cook until sauce thickens.
- Meanwhile, cook egg noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- In a baking dish, layer noodles, meatballs, and creamy sauce. Mix gently to combine.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until bubbly and heated through. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
