Spaghetti Pie

  1. Ingredients:
  • 12 oz spaghetti
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1/2 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish or springform pan.
  2. Cook spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain and rinse with cold water to stop cooking.
  3. In a bowl, whisk eggs and Parmesan cheese together. Toss the cooked spaghetti in the egg mixture until well-coated.
  4. Press the spaghetti mixture into the prepared pie dish, forming a “crust.” Set aside.
  5. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onions and garlic, sauté until translucent.
  6. Add ground beef or sausage to the skillet, breaking it up and cooking until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  7. Stir in marinara sauce and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  8. Spread half of the meat sauce over the spaghetti crust, followed by 1 cup of mozzarella. Repeat with the remaining sauce and cheese.
  9. Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and lightly browned.
  10. Let the pie cool for 5 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
