- Ingredients:
- 12 oz spaghetti
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1/2 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish or springform pan.
- Cook spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain and rinse with cold water to stop cooking.
- In a bowl, whisk eggs and Parmesan cheese together. Toss the cooked spaghetti in the egg mixture until well-coated.
- Press the spaghetti mixture into the prepared pie dish, forming a “crust.” Set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onions and garlic, sauté until translucent.
- Add ground beef or sausage to the skillet, breaking it up and cooking until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in marinara sauce and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Spread half of the meat sauce over the spaghetti crust, followed by 1 cup of mozzarella. Repeat with the remaining sauce and cheese.
- Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and lightly browned.
- Let the pie cool for 5 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
