The earthy mushrooms and fragrant garlic create a mouthwatering base, while the Swiss cheese adds a delightful creamy finish. Each bite is a comforting experience that will warm you up from the inside out.
Ingredients:
- 4 bone-in pork chops
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced (preferably cremini or white)
- 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped (or 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Directions:
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the pork chops with salt and pepper, then sear them in the skillet for 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown. Remove the pork chops from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add butter, onion, and garlic. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the onions are softened and the garlic is fragrant.
- Add the sliced mushrooms and cook for 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms release their moisture and begin to brown.
- Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
- Stir in the heavy cream and thyme, then return the pork chops to the skillet. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 8-10 minutes, or until the pork chops are cooked through and tender.
- Once the pork chops are cooked, sprinkle the shredded Swiss cheese over the top of the chops and cover the skillet again. Let it sit for 1-2 minutes until the cheese has melted.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately.
