Ingredients:
1 box chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients called for on the box)
24 Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups (mini size)
1 cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
3 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
Preheat oven to the temperature specified on the cake mix box. Line a cupcake pan with liners.
Prepare the chocolate cake batter according to the box instructions. Fill each cupcake liner about two-thirds full with the batter.
Press a mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup into the center of each filled cupcake liner, ensuring it is covered by the batter.
Bake according to the cake mix instructions, or until a toothpick inserted into the cupcake (not the peanut butter cup) comes out clean.
Allow the cupcakes to cool completely.
For the frosting: In a large bowl, beat together the peanut butter and butter until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract, beating until creamy and well-combined.
Frost the cooled cupcakes with the peanut butter frosting.
