Pumpkin Scones with Cinnamon Glaze

These Pumpkin Scones are the epitome of fall comfort baking. They are tender and fluffy, with the perfect balance of warm spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. The spiced glaze adds a touch of sweetness that enhances the pumpkin flavor and makes each bite irresistible.

Ingredients:

For the Scones:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
  • 1/2 cup canned pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Spiced Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and salt.
  3. Add the cold butter to the dry ingredients. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the pumpkin puree, heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract.
  5. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead it a few times to bring it together. Pat the dough into a circle about 1-inch thick.
  7. Using a sharp knife or bench scraper, cut the dough into 8 wedges and transfer them to the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the scones are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. While the scones are baking, prepare the spiced glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla extract in a small bowl.
  10. Once the scones are done baking, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool slightly before drizzling with the glaze.
