Philly Cheesesteak Garlic Bread takes two favorites – garlic bread and Philly cheesesteaks – and combines them into one incredible dish. The tender steak, caramelized onions and bell peppers, and melted cheese sit perfectly on a crispy garlic bread base, making this an irresistible savory treat.
- Ingredients:
- 1 loaf of French bread or Italian baguette
- 1 lb ribeye steak, thinly sliced (or substitute with flank steak)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1/2 cup provolone cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Slice the loaf of French bread or baguette in half lengthwise and place on a baking sheet.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers, and sauté for 5-7 minutes, or until softened and caramelized. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute. Remove from heat and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the thinly sliced steak and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the steak is browned and cooked through. Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper to taste.
- Mix mayonnaise and butter together in a small bowl, then spread this mixture evenly on the cut sides of the bread.
- Top each half of the bread with the cooked steak, sautéed peppers, and onions. Sprinkle evenly with provolone and mozzarella cheese.
- Place the bread halves on the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before slicing and serving.
