Philly Cheesesteak Garlic Bread with Peppers and Onions

Philly Cheesesteak Garlic Bread takes two favorites – garlic bread and Philly cheesesteaks – and combines them into one incredible dish. The tender steak, caramelized onions and bell peppers, and melted cheese sit perfectly on a crispy garlic bread base, making this an irresistible savory treat.

  1. Ingredients:
    • 1 loaf of French bread or Italian baguette
    • 1 lb ribeye steak, thinly sliced (or substitute with flank steak)
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 1 onion, thinly sliced
    • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
    • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
    • 1/2 cup provolone cheese, shredded
    • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
    • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
    Directions:
    1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    2. Slice the loaf of French bread or baguette in half lengthwise and place on a baking sheet.
    3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers, and sauté for 5-7 minutes, or until softened and caramelized. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute. Remove from heat and set aside.
    4. In the same skillet, add the thinly sliced steak and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the steak is browned and cooked through. Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper to taste.
    5. Mix mayonnaise and butter together in a small bowl, then spread this mixture evenly on the cut sides of the bread.
    6. Top each half of the bread with the cooked steak, sautéed peppers, and onions. Sprinkle evenly with provolone and mozzarella cheese.
    7. Place the bread halves on the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
    8. Garnish with fresh parsley before slicing and serving.
