Beef Pizza Pie

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup sliced pepperoni (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 (9-inch) prepared pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Stir in the pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  5. Roll out the pie crust and place it into a 9-inch pie pan. Press it firmly against the sides.
  6. Layer half of the mozzarella cheese on the bottom of the crust. Then add the beef mixture and top with the remaining mozzarella cheese and pepperoni slices (if using).
  7. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top for extra flavor.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil before slicing and serving.
