Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup sliced pepperoni (optional)
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 (9-inch) prepared pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in the pizza sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Roll out the pie crust and place it into a 9-inch pie pan. Press it firmly against the sides.
- Layer half of the mozzarella cheese on the bottom of the crust. Then add the beef mixture and top with the remaining mozzarella cheese and pepperoni slices (if using).
- Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top for extra flavor.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil before slicing and serving.
