Paired with creamy Parmesan rice, this dish provides the perfect combination of rich flavors and comforting textures.

  1. Ingredients:
    • For the Monte Cristo Sliders:
      • 12 slider buns
      • 1 pound deli ham
      • 1 pound deli turkey
      • 6 slices Swiss cheese
      • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
      • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
      • 2 eggs
      • 1/4 cup milk
      • 1 tablespoon butter
      • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar (optional, for serving)
    • For the Parmesan Rice:
      • 1 cup long-grain white rice
      • 2 tablespoons olive oil
      • 2 cloves garlic, minced
      • 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
      • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
      • Salt and pepper to taste
      • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Directions:

  1. For the Monte Cristo Sliders:
    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
    • Slice the slider buns in half and place the bottom halves in the prepared baking dish.
    • Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard and mayonnaise on each bun bottom. Layer ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese on top.
    • Place the top halves of the buns on top of the sandwiches.
    • In a small bowl, whisk together eggs and milk. Pour this egg mixture over the entire tray of sandwiches, allowing the bread to soak up the mixture.
    • Melt butter in a small skillet and brush it over the top of the buns. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil.
    • Bake for 20 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the tops are golden and crispy.
    • Once baked, sprinkle powdered sugar over the top (optional) and serve.
  2. For the Parmesan Rice:
    • Heat olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
    • Add rice to the saucepan and stir for 2 minutes, allowing it to lightly toast.
    • Pour in chicken broth, season with salt and pepper, and bring to a boil.
    • Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is fully cooked and the liquid is absorbed.
    • Remove from heat and stir in grated Parmesan cheese until well combined.
    • Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
