This Halloumi with Chili Oil Honey Glaze combines the rich, salty flavor of grilled Halloumi with the perfect balance of sweet and spicy from the honey and chili oil glaze. The slight crisp on the outside of the cheese paired with the smooth, tangy glaze creates an irresistible combination.
- Ingredients:
- 250g Halloumi cheese
- 2 tablespoons chili oil
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for extra heat)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
- Slice the Halloumi cheese into 1/2-inch thick slices.
- Heat a grill pan or outdoor grill over medium-high heat.
- Place the Halloumi slices on the grill and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until grill marks appear and the cheese becomes golden brown.
- While the Halloumi is grilling, make the glaze: In a small saucepan, combine the chili oil, honey, lemon juice, minced garlic, oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using). Heat over low-medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture becomes slightly thicker, about 3-4 minutes.
- Once the Halloumi slices are grilled, transfer them to a serving plate. Drizzle the chili oil honey glaze generously over the cheese, and sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley.
- Serve immediately as an appetizer or side dish.
