Fluffy Homestyle Yeast Rolls

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup warm water (110°F or 45°C)
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup sugar, divided
  • 1/2 cup melted butter, plus extra for brushing
  • 3 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F or 45°C)
  • 5–6 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. In a small bowl, mix the warm water, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, remaining sugar, eggs, and warm milk. Stir in the yeast mixture.
  3. Gradually add 5 cups of flour and salt, stirring until a soft dough forms. Add more flour if needed to achieve a smooth, non-sticky dough.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5–8 minutes or until elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and divide into 12–15 pieces. Shape each into a ball and place on a greased baking sheet.
  7. Cover the rolls loosely and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter.
  9. Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until golden brown. Brush with more melted butter if desired.
