Flaky Apple Pie-Inspired Biscuits

Apple Pie Biscuits are a delightful combination of classic apple pie flavors wrapped in flaky, tender biscuits. Each bite offers a perfect balance of sweet apple filling and comforting cinnamon, making them a delicious treat any time of year.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup apple pie filling
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Additional sugar for sprinkling

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Pour in the buttermilk and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently roll it out to about 1/2-inch thickness. Cut out circles using a biscuit cutter or a glass.
  6. Place a spoonful of apple pie filling in the center of half the circles. Sprinkle cinnamon over the filling.
  7. Top with the remaining circles and seal the edges with a fork. Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. In a small bowl, beat the egg and brush it over the tops of the biscuits. Sprinkle with additional sugar.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
