Apple Pie Biscuits are a delightful combination of classic apple pie flavors wrapped in flaky, tender biscuits. Each bite offers a perfect balance of sweet apple filling and comforting cinnamon, making them a delicious treat any time of year.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup apple pie filling
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Additional sugar for sprinkling
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
- Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, work the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Pour in the buttermilk and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently roll it out to about 1/2-inch thickness. Cut out circles using a biscuit cutter or a glass.
- Place a spoonful of apple pie filling in the center of half the circles. Sprinkle cinnamon over the filling.
- Top with the remaining circles and seal the edges with a fork. Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, beat the egg and brush it over the tops of the biscuits. Sprinkle with additional sugar.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
