Easy Chinese Chicken and Cabbage Stir-Fry

This Chinese Chicken Cabbage Stir-Fry is a light yet flavorful dish, combining tender chicken, crisp cabbage, and vibrant bell peppers. The savory combination of soy sauce, hoisin, and oyster sauce creates a rich, well-balanced sauce that coats the chicken and vegetables perfectly.

  1. Ingredients:
  • 1 lb chicken breast, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 inch ginger, minced
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups cabbage, shredded
  • 1/2 bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Directions:

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced chicken and cook for 5-7 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  2. In the same pan, add garlic, ginger, and onion. Sauté for 2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add the cabbage and bell pepper to the pan. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the cabbage begins to soften but still has some crunch.
  4. Return the cooked chicken to the pan and add soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir to combine everything.
  5. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to coat the chicken and vegetables. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
