This Chinese Chicken Cabbage Stir-Fry is a light yet flavorful dish, combining tender chicken, crisp cabbage, and vibrant bell peppers. The savory combination of soy sauce, hoisin, and oyster sauce creates a rich, well-balanced sauce that coats the chicken and vegetables perfectly.
- Ingredients:
- 1 lb chicken breast, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 inch ginger, minced
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cups cabbage, shredded
- 1/2 bell pepper, sliced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Directions:
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced chicken and cook for 5-7 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add garlic, ginger, and onion. Sauté for 2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the cabbage and bell pepper to the pan. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until the cabbage begins to soften but still has some crunch.
- Return the cooked chicken to the pan and add soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir to combine everything.
- Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to coat the chicken and vegetables. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
