  1. Ingredients:
    • 2 cups granulated sugar
    • 1 cup heavy cream
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
    • 1 cup diced apples (preferably tart varieties like Granny Smith)
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1 cup chopped pecans (optional)
    • 1 cup caramel sauce (for drizzling)
    Directions:
    1. Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper and set aside.
    2. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, heavy cream, and butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture comes to a boil.
    3. Allow it to boil without stirring for about 5 minutes or until it reaches a soft ball stage (235°F to 240°F).
    4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract, salt, diced apples, and pecans (if using).
    5. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
    6. Let it cool at room temperature for about 2 hours or until set.
    7. Once set, cut into squares and drizzle with caramel sauce before serving.
