Crispy Chicken and Cabbage Stir-Fry

This Chinese Chicken Cabbage Stir-Fry is a simple yet flavorful dish that combines tender chicken with crisp cabbage in a savory sauce. The sesame oil, soy sauce, and oyster sauce create a rich umami flavor, while the cabbage adds a refreshing crunch.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb chicken breast, thinly sliced
  • 1 small head of napa cabbage, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for stir-frying)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, and garlic.
  2. In another small bowl, dissolve the cornstarch in 2 tablespoons of water (if using).
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced chicken and season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir-fry the chicken for 5-7 minutes, or until it is golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil and stir-fry the cabbage over high heat for 2-3 minutes until it starts to wilt but is still slightly crisp.
  5. Add the cooked chicken back to the skillet, along with the soy sauce mixture. Stir to coat everything evenly.
  6. If using cornstarch, pour the dissolved cornstarch into the skillet and stir until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning with more soy sauce or salt if needed. Serve immediately.
