Crispy Amish-Style Onion Fritters

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Directions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  2. Add the finely chopped onion to the dry mixture, ensuring the onion pieces are well coated.
  3. Gradually add milk, stirring until the batter is thick and evenly mixed.
  4. In a large skillet, heat about 1/4 inch of vegetable oil over medium heat.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, flattening slightly with the back of the spoon.
  6. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  7. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
