Ingredients:
- 20 jumbo pasta shells
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) ricotta cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the jumbo shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the onion and garlic until softened. Add the ground beef, cooking until browned. Season with salt and pepper. Drain excess fat.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked beef mixture, ricotta cheese, 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, and additional salt and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce on the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Stuff each cooked shell with the beef and ricotta mixture and place in the baking dish.
- Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the stuffed shells and sprinkle with the remaining mozzarella cheese.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Garnish with fresh basil before serving.
