The caramelized onions add an extra layer of flavor that takes this breakfast sandwich to the next level.

  1. Ingredients:
    • 2 bagels, split and toasted (plain or sesame)
    • 2 steaks (6 oz), thinly sliced (ribeye or sirloin works best)
    • 2 large eggs
    • 2 slices American cheese
    • 2 tablespoons butter (for cooking)
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
    • Salt and pepper, to taste
    • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (optional, for extra flavor)
    • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
    Directions:
    1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are caramelized and golden brown, about 10 minutes. Set aside.
    2. In the same skillet, add a little more oil if necessary. Season the steak slices with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Sear the steak slices for 2-3 minutes, or until they’re cooked to your desired level of doneness. If using, drizzle with Worcestershire sauce for extra flavor. Remove from heat and set aside.
    3. In a separate pan, heat the butter over medium-low heat. Crack the eggs into the pan and cook until the whites are set but the yolks remain runny (or to your desired doneness).
    4. While the eggs are cooking, place a slice of cheese on each steak portion to allow it to melt slightly.
    5. Assemble the bagels: Layer one half of each toasted bagel with the caramelized onions, followed by the steak and melted cheese. Top with the fried egg and the other half of the toasted bagel.
    6. Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade version of McDonald’s Steak, Egg, and Cheese Bagel!
