- Copycat McDonald’s Steak Egg and Cheese
Ingredients:
- For the Steak:
- 1 pound sirloin steak (or your preferred cut)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- For the Egg and Cheese:
- 4 large eggs
- 4 slices American cheese
- 1 tablespoon butter
- For the Sandwich Assembly:
- 4 soft sandwich rolls (like brioche or kaiser rolls)
- Optional: hot sauce or ketchup for serving
Directions:
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Rub the steak with olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Cook the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until it reaches your desired doneness. Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing thinly.
- In a non-stick skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Crack the eggs into the skillet, cooking them to your preference (sunny-side up, over-easy, or scrambled). During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each egg to melt.
- While the eggs are cooking, toast the sandwich rolls on the grill or in a toaster until lightly golden.
- To assemble, place a portion of sliced steak on the bottom half of each roll, followed by a cheesy egg. Add hot sauce or ketchup if desired, then top with the other half of the roll.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your homemade breakfast sandwich!
