Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cut into cubes
- 4-5 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced thinly
- 1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 cup rolled oats (optional)
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Press 2/3 of the crust mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish and bake for 12-15 minutes until lightly golden.
- While the crust bakes, toss the apple slices with lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Remove the crust from the oven and layer the apple slices evenly over the crust.
- Drizzle the caramel sauce over the apples. Sprinkle the remaining crust mixture, oats, and pecans on top.
- Bake for an additional 30-35 minutes, until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
- Let it cool before slicing into bars.
