Biscuits and Sausage Gravy Breakfast Pizza

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough
  • 1/2 pound breakfast sausage
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons chopped chives (for garnish)

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 12-inch pizza pan or a large baking sheet.
  2. Separate the biscuit dough and press the biscuits evenly onto the prepared pan to form a pizza crust. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until lightly golden. Remove from the oven.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk for 1-2 minutes to make a roux. Slowly whisk in the milk, stirring until the gravy thickens (about 5-7 minutes). Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes, if using.
  5. Spread the sausage gravy over the baked biscuit crust. Sprinkle the browned sausage and shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top.
  6. Make four small wells in the toppings and crack an egg into each well. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the eggs are set to your liking.
  7. Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped chives. Slice and serve warm.
