Ingredients:
- 1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough
- 1/2 pound breakfast sausage
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons chopped chives (for garnish)
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 12-inch pizza pan or a large baking sheet.
- Separate the biscuit dough and press the biscuits evenly onto the prepared pan to form a pizza crust. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until lightly golden. Remove from the oven.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk for 1-2 minutes to make a roux. Slowly whisk in the milk, stirring until the gravy thickens (about 5-7 minutes). Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes, if using.
- Spread the sausage gravy over the baked biscuit crust. Sprinkle the browned sausage and shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top.
- Make four small wells in the toppings and crack an egg into each well. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the eggs are set to your liking.
- Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped chives. Slice and serve warm.
