- Ingredients:
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup milk
- Vegetable oil for frying
Directions:
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Add the sliced onions to the dry ingredients and toss to coat the onions evenly.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. Pour the wet mixture into the onion-flour mixture, stirring until everything is well combined.
- Heat 1/4 inch of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
- Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, flattening slightly with the back of a spoon. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side or until golden brown.
- Transfer the fritters to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce or as a side dish.
